Service Description

The initial Project Monitor class is a 40-hour course usually conducted over the course of five eight-hour days. This certification course is designed for those that will oversee the scope, methodology, and or quality control of a project beyond that of the abatement supervisor. A project monitor may serve as the on-site representative of the building owner to oversee asbestos abatement work and to ensure that work is performed in accordance with specifications and in compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws. They may also perform the vital role of air monitoring for purposes of determining final clearance and conduct final visual inspections. 6 hours of instruction involve immersive hands on workshops covering contract specifications, drawings, air monitoring strategies/abatement equipment and the proper conducting of visual inspections on abatement projects. Upon successful completion of the course and a 100-question multiple choice exam, students will be able to apply to the New York State Department of Labor for certification as an Asbestos Abatement Project Monitor. Note: Upon successful completion of the project monitor certification course an individual may also apply to the New York State Department of labor as an Air Sampling Technician and perform the duties and functions of an Air Sampling Tech.
